Optical Continuum presents a hypnotic, abstract composition in which repetition, depth and optical illusion take centre stage. At the middle floats a sphere entirely covered with geometric patterns of circles and rings in vivid neon colours such as cyan, magenta, yellow and green. The sphere seems to rest in a soft, hollow form — as though lying on a cushion — which produces a strongly three-dimensional effect.
The background consists of the same pattern, but distorted and curved backwards, creating a tunnel- or bowl-shaped space. This reinforces the feeling that the viewer is being drawn into the image. The black ground makes the colours light up all the more vividly, almost as though they were radiating light themselves.
The painting evokes associations with digital art, psychedelic visuals and optical art (op art). It balances between order and overwhelm: the patterns are crisp and repetitive, but the distortion of perspective creates a dynamic, almost pulsing movement. The whole feels futuristic, playful and intense, and invites longer looking.
