Waves of Symmetry

Waves of Symmetry presents an explosion of symmetry and movement, built up from repeating, undulating lines that unfold outwards from the centre. At the middle a flower-like core forms with several rounded "petals", in which lines of pink, lime green and yellow come together concentrically. This core acts as a visual anchor point from which the rest of the composition seems to pulse.

Around the centre, sharp, leaf-like forms fan out in a rhythmic pattern. The lines are crisp and graphic, but through their curvature and repetition a hypnotic effect arises, as though the image were vibrating or turning. The palette is vivid and full of contrast: magenta and pink alternate with green, yellow and deep dark accents, recalling neon light or the atmosphere of a fairground. The whole has a pronouncedly optical and almost psychedelic character. The painting plays with perception, depth and movement, and evokes associations with a kaleidoscope, a mandala or a visual spectacle in which order and energy come together.
