Fourfold Balance

About this work

Fourfold Balance presents something crisp, geometric and clear in conception. The image is built up from four large squares, each with a central, smaller pyramid-shaped core. Together they form a symmetrical grid of four fields that touch one another at the centre.

Each zone has a dominant primary colour:

upper left, deep blue with a gold core

upper right, fresh green with a red core

lower left, warm yellow with a blue core

lower right, intense red with a green core

The planes are built up from subtle transitions of light and shadow, so that each square acquires a three-dimensional, almost architectural effect. The slanting lines run towards the centre and reinforce the sense of depth, as though you were looking into four coloured spaces folding inwards. The work radiates order, balance and stability. At the same time tension arises through the colour contrasts and the alternation of warm and cool tones. The painting feels rational and meditative: a visual study of colour, form and equilibrium, in which simplicity and precision take centre stage.
