About this work

Neon Currents presents an abstract, dynamic composition of flowing neon lines against a deep black background. Vivid colours such as turquoise, yellow, magenta, green and red wind in undulating paths through the image and together form a powerful spiral movement towards the centre.

The lines appear luminous, as though made of energy or electrical currents, and cross and interweave with one another without ever really coming to rest. At the centre a whirlpool forms that suggests depth and movement, as though the image were drawing the viewer inside. The black background reinforces the contrast and lets the colours light up all the more intensely. The whole evokes associations with cosmic forces, music visualisations or abstract landscapes of pure energy. The painting radiates speed, transformation and continuous movement, and invites the viewer to experience it not rationally but through feeling.
