In this painting I present a couple in love in a street-art-like image on the weathered wall of an old industrial building. The background consists of peeling plaster, exposed brickwork, rusty doors and broken windows, evoking an atmosphere of decay and urban rawness.
At the centre of the image stands the couple, executed in a high-contrast black-and-white stencil style. They walk side by side along a pavement, both in contemporary clothing. The woman holds a bright red balloon, which stands out strongly against the otherwise sober colouring of the work. This balloon forms the principal accent of colour and immediately draws the viewer's attention. The figures are rendered realistically but graphically, with clear contours and minimal detail. The surroundings contain subtle graffiti elements and a house number (22), which strengthens the street scene and gives the work a documentary quality.
The whole is framed by a striking blue border, emphasising the contrast between street art and classical presentation. The painting thus combines a raw urban aesthetic with a clear, almost poetic visual focal point. Together, the painting seems to say that love and intimacy can exist, and even flourish, in a hard and dilapidated world. The simplicity of their being together contrasts with the rough surroundings: humanity set against urban decay. The work therefore radiates both melancholy and hope — a quiet tribute to connection in everyday life.
The blue border forms part of the Epoxy Liquid Gloss and is not a physical wooden frame.
