About this work

In this painting I express a quiet, tender form of love. We see two children, executed in black-and-white stencil style, against the weathered façade of an old building. The peeling wall, broken windows and graffiti form a raw, urban background that only reinforces the fragile moment. The girl walks in front and holds a bright red balloon. That balloon is the only strong accent of colour in the work and immediately draws the eye. The red symbolises warmth, hope and innocence — a small point of light in a hard environment. Her bearing is calm and determined, as though she were following a path of her own.

The boy walks a little behind her, his gaze fixed on her. His posture suggests attention and admiration, perhaps also protectiveness or a wish to follow her. There is no physical contact, but the emotion lies precisely in that distance: a quiet connection, a budding affection still unspoken. The love in this painting is not grand or dramatic, but pure and restrained. It is about youthful affection, trust and the sharing of a moment together. The red balloon serves as a symbol of dreams and emotions that rise above everyday reality. Despite the rough surroundings the image feels soft and hopeful — a tender scene showing that even in the most abandoned places, warmth and humanity can exist.

The blue border forms part of the Epoxy Liquid Gloss and is not a physical wooden frame.
