In this painting I present a moving scene in street-art style: an elderly couple walking hand in hand along a weathered wall. The man, with a walking stick, and the woman are rendered in black-and-white stencil form, which gives them a timeless, almost nostalgic character. Their faces radiate calm and connection.
The strong accent of colour lies in the bright pink candyfloss the woman holds up. The candyfloss looks light and playful and contrasts sharply with the sober figures and the rough, peeling wall. Beside her several red hearts float, as though love and joy were literally hanging in the air. These symbols give the work a warm, optimistic charge.
