MikoArt-Liquid Gloss®-07FP/DavidBowie-120x120cm
In this painting I present David Bowie looking at you with a calm, almost timeless gaze. His face is built up from fragmented, geometric planes, as though it consisted of several identities at once. The iconic lightning bolt across his face refers to his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust, and symbolises the fractures between who he was, who he became and who he dared to be. Colourful butterflies float around his head: light, fragile and constantly in motion. They represent metamorphosis, freedom and the letting go of old forms.
The background is spare and dark, so that Bowie himself and the butterflies seem to glow. It is as though he were stepping out of the shadow, reborn again and again. The painting radiates both softness and strength: a man who embraced his vulnerability and used it as a source of creativity. His life was a series of artistic rebirths. Each time the world thought it understood him, he transformed: Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, The Thin White Duke, and later the restrained, reflective Bowie of his final years.
Like the butterflies in the painting, Bowie refused to sit still. He broke down the boundaries between musical styles, gender expression, fashion and art. He gave a voice to outsiders and showed that identity is not a given but a journey. This work is not a traditional portrait but a visual biography. It tells the story of a man who reinvented himself again and again and gave millions the courage to do the same. David Bowie lives on in this painting as a symbol of change, imagination and freedom — surrounded by butterflies, always on the way to a new form.
MikoArt-Liquid Gloss®
The artworks are produced using the most modern techniques and the finest quality materials. The artwork is printed on high-grade Fuji Crystal DP II Ultra HD photographic paper, permanently bonded to a 4 mm thick Alu-dibond support and protected with a 3 mm layer of high-quality Liquid Gloss® epoxy resin. This finish gives the artwork not only an intense colour and three-dimensional presence but also a refined, luxurious appearance. It also guarantees many years of durability and resistance to ultraviolet light. Where a frame or border has been applied to the work, it is integrated within the artwork itself. The gold frame or border is integrated within the artwork and is therefore not present as a physical frame.
