In this painting I present Frank Sinatra as a stylish, self-assured man, dressed in a classic dark suit with hat and bow tie. He holds a bottle of Jack Daniel's, a symbol of the nightlife and of a love for Tennessee whiskey, jazz clubs and the timeless elegance with which he was so often associated. The background combines the American and Italian flags with warm colours and fluttering butterflies, giving the image a dreamlike, almost cinematic atmosphere. The butterflies stand for musical freedom, appetite for life and the many phases of his long journey through the music world. The colours and forms are deliberately kept modern, so that his story is not only the past but still alive today. The words "The Voice — Ol' Blue Eyes" refer to his nickname and to his warm, instantly recognisable voice. The line "The best is yet to come" was engraved on his headstone, fitting his life and career, and it was also the last song he sang live, in 1995.
Frank Sinatra was born in 1915 in Hoboken, New Jersey, the son of Italian immigrants, and grew into one of the greatest singers of the twentieth century. Alongside his musical career he was also a successful actor. Sinatra died in 1998, but is still regarded as an icon of style, music and American culture. The artwork is a tribute to his music, his style and his lasting influence on the history of pop and jazz.

The gold frame or border is integrated within the artwork and is therefore not present as a physical frame.
