In this artwork I present Madonna in a moment of maximum expression: singing, open, powerful, during a live performance, executed in a pronouncedly digital, geometric-figurative style. The composition is built up from sharp, facetted planes that together form a layered face. This geometric approach gives the image tension and rhythm, as though music were becoming visible in form and colour. The palette is rich and full of contrast — warm skin tones against cool neon accents — to make the energy of the stage tangible. Warm skin tones are combined with gold accents in the jewellery and a multicoloured outfit in which pink, turquoise, purple and yellow alternate. These colours reinforce the dynamic character of the work. The lighting suggests stage light, with bright highlights and deep shadows that emphasise the form and energy of the moment.
The butterflies play an important part in the work. For me they stand for transformation, freedom and continual renewal: themes inseparably bound up with her artistic career and with my own work as an artist. They break through the portrait, move across the image and connect the figure with the space around her. The setting of light lines, symbols and graphic elements refers to music, performance and pop culture, but also to the digital age in which this work came about. Technically I built the painting up in multiple digital layers. Every plane, every shadow and every accent of light is carefully placed to create depth and dynamism. The result is a contemporary icon: intended to give form to her charisma, independence and artistic strength, and to the continuing dialogue between art, music and identity.
MikoArt-Liquid Gloss®
The artworks are produced using the most modern techniques and the finest quality materials. The artwork is printed on high-grade Fuji Crystal DP II Ultra HD photographic paper, permanently bonded to a 4 mm thick Alu-dibond support and protected with a 3 mm layer of high-quality Liquid Gloss® epoxy resin. This finish gives the artwork not only an intense colour and three-dimensional presence but also a refined, luxurious appearance. It also guarantees many years of durability and resistance to ultraviolet light. Where a frame or border has been applied to the work, it is integrated within the artwork itself. The gold frame or border is integrated within the artwork and is therefore not present as a physical frame.
