Red Balloon Love I

About this work

In this painting I present a powerful piece of street art with a strongly emotional and symbolic charge. On a weathered, cracked wall we see an elderly couple, hand in hand, executed in black-and-white stencil style. The man leans lightly on a walking stick; in her other hand the woman holds a bright red balloon. The red balloon forms the visual and semantic centre: it contrasts sharply with the monochrome figures and the drab wall.
