About this work

In this painting I present David Bowie looking at you with a calm, almost timeless gaze. His face is built up from fragmented, geometric planes, as though it consisted of several identities at once. The iconic lightning bolt across his face refers to his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust, and symbolises the fractures between who he was, who he became and who he dared to be.
